The majority of our training sessions and work placements are based at The Warehouse community hub.
We have a fully-equipped workshop on site, where we run small group sessions, teaching basic building, construction and carpentry skills. Individuals who come to Building Foundations will occasionally go out onto active building sites as part of their experience and we have also run sessions for classes of school children, by special arrangement.
The Loading Bay Community Café, first established in 2018, also has a history of offering work placements to young people, including those with learning difficulties, and is now operated by Building Foundations.
This has enabled us to expand our training and placements into the catering and hospitality sector.
Other placements can be arranged on a case-by-case basis, depending on the interests and abilities of the individual, often after discussion with their parents or carers. There are a wide range of businesses based at The Warehouse, the owners of which share our values and goals of inclusivity and community involvement. Businesses include an architectural practice, a printing business, a nail salon, a fully-equipped gym and an independent financial adviser.
